About Me
Artistic Soul
Discovering their love for Metalworking in 2017 in their first semester at Arcadia University, Dutko has been a Metalsmith, Jeweler with ever evolving work since. Studying for a semester in the Glasgow School of Art in Scotland, they continue to hone their skills and experiment with new mediums.
Pulling too much inspiration from one spot makes it so your ideas become stale, rigid and overused. By using many different sources it leads to endless possibilities. I like to work with my jewelry in the same manner, constantly changing, pulling new inspiration from other sources. Inspiration is all around us, music, nature, costumes, theater and fanbases, are just some of the sources I draw my inspiration from. Having adaptability and trying new things as often as possible, whether it be new mediums or techniques, being able to pick things up, give it a try, even if it doesn’t work out, they allow for new experiences and new ways of thinking. I hope to give my viewers and patrons the same thing with my work. A new perspective.
Dutko (or D for Short) is primarily a Metalsmith and a Jeweler. However, they have many other art mediums they bridge out to. Photography, Woodworking, Theater, Music, Costuming, Ceramics and More. In some form Art has always been present in their life since a young age, always keeping a sketch book around at the bare minimum.
Evolution
Dutko's work has continuously changed throughout their career in metals working as it is ever evolving and pulling inspiration from different places. Whether it be working with color, challenging different types of Jewelry design concepts, or connecting their theatrical influences with Jewelry. Their current work is involved with both color, and also creating 3D objects from 2D references to connect for Costuming as well as to help explore those worlds.
